Svetlana Backhaus is a Calvert Academy Highschool sophomore and a Dual Credit student at Northern New Mexico College. She takes special interest in mathematical classes, with College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus 1, and Statistic and Probability all under her belt. She has also taken Python Programming and Fundamentals of Programming and Software Development to advance her knowledge of the ever increasing digital world.
During her free time, Svetlana enjoys playing her violin and dancing Flamenco with la Compañía Chuscales y Mina Fajardo. She has danced with the company for 5 years, and participated in Memories of Doña Tules, Monet's Moon, Carmen La Golondrina, Luna Gitanita y Estrellas, and Árbol de la Vida. Svetlana has also danced Baile Folklórico with Moving Arts Española for 13 years, and has even become part of the team at the nonprofit organization. |
At Calvert Academy, Svetlana participates in her school newspaper and math club. Svetlana is the STEM Columnist on her school newspaper, "The Calvert Post", and writes articles on current events in the Scientific community and her own solutions to math and logic problems.
